A shirt is a cloth garment for the upper body. Originally an undergarment worn exclusively by men, it has become a catch-all term for a broad variety of upper-body garments and undergarments. A shirt is more specifically a garment with a collar, sleeves with cuffs, and a full vertical opening with buttons or snaps. A shirt can also be worn with a necktie under the shirt collar.
The value of a shirt is a lot more significant when it comes to wearing inside a suit. When you buy a suit, and the shirt you wear with a wrong color shirt inside the suit, the look of the suit goes all wrong. So it’s important to get a shirt that matches the suit.
