Jim Thompson helped make Thai silk famous in the 19th century when local high-quality outfits were all made entirely of Thai silk. The premium cloth gained worldwide fame in the 1950s, and enterprises popped up all throughout Thailand. The Bombyx mori is the first step in the creation of our famed Thai silk. The so-called silk moth, which produces microscopic cocoons on Thai mulberry trees with its spittle in the process, is the source of the tiny worm known as Bombyx mori. The completed cocoons are later removed from the mulberry trees by our locals in Chiang Mai, who then begin to separate the silk thread from the caterpillar within the cocoon by soaking them in boiling water.
We use Thai silk for women dresses. Mostly unique and individual styles available.
